HAPPY FOR A BREAK

So I am well over due to post and so I should probably post something long, and meaningful........

But instead I'm going to say that I am happy that we are leaving for Illinois on Saturday. We will spend a week with the families. It will be super nice for a break for the following reasons

1. We haven't see our families in super long. I miss them, all of them.
2. Our kids are doing so many new things that our families haven't seen: it's nice to share our kids with their Grandparents.
3. . We have cute kids, and when we are around other people they tell us that and people telling us that , makes all their little annoyances seem so much smaller.
4. I have on average changed 20 diapers per day for the last week. That is what having a home daycare will get 'cha. I'm hoping to have at least one day over the holiday in which I change ZERO diapers in one day. :) Here's to hoping.

Is it pathetic that most of the things that I could even think of to put on my birthday wish list for Caleb were things for my kids or that have to do with kids? I guess since I spend so much time with the little munchkins I think about the cool gadgets, gizmos, and gear that would make my life as a mom easier or possibly more fun. Although I refuse to buy pointless devices like a wipes warmer, a bottle drying rack, or all name brand clothing for my children. I do try to keep up with the cool stuff that they sell for babies, and toddlers.

So with this I have created a list of useful baby items I own.

1. My new birthday Present (Thank You Caleb)

I expect to use this one a lot for both outside and inside use. I have been dreaming of such a gadget that would keep my kids contained while we were on walks or in the mall, or at the zoo. It is not here yet but it looks like the nice weather is coming just in time!

FEATURES:

Safari 2 Double Stroller

Swivel front wheel - For easy mobility and maneuvering

Lockable front wheel - Wheel quickly locks in place for jogging

Lightweight steel frame - Lightweight for storage and easy to push

Retractable canopy - Provides extra sun protection

16" Quick release rear wheels: 12" front wheel - For a smooth ride and compact storage

Recline seats - Great for nap time or seeing the road

One hand fold - For easy folding and quick transporting

2. Annabelle loved sitting in it. It gave her a new perspective; she could see all around and be part of what was happening. We used this a lot when we were in the kitchen cooking dinner, or doing dishes. The thing says not to, but we would just put it up on the counter and have her sit there and watch everything that was happening. We don’t use it so much anymore because she can sit up on her own. But definitely a great purchase.

3. And since we have an extra wide doorway they can just jump and bounce all over. Zeke especially likes to pretend that Annabelle is in a swing, and see how high he can push her before I find out and bust him. That girl is going to turn out to be pretty tough, with him as a big brother!

Personality tests, purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all.

Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We're turning that upside down - all the questions affect all the results, and we've got some innovative results too! Enjoy :-)

Personality

You are more logical than emotional, more concerned about self than concerned about others, more religious than atheist, more loner than dependent, more workaholic than lazy, more traditional than rebel, more engineering mind than artistic mind, more idealist than cynical, more follower than leader, and more extroverted than introverted.

As for specific personality traits, you are adventurious (100%), religious (90%), romantic (71%).

Stereotypes

Young Professional

82%

Prep

77%

Hippie

61%

Life Experience

Sex

23%

Substances

22%

Travel

11%

			Politics
Your political views would best be described as Socialist, whom you agree with around 78% of the time.

			Socioeconomic
Your attitude toward life best associates you with Middle Class.

After Caleb and I have recently taken the Brutally Honest Personality Tests. We were talking about it to a lot of our family members over the Holidays. We ended up getting most of our Family Members to take the test. It was actually quite a learning experience, once we all began to look more into what our personality types meant from a site like this. And helped us understand a bit more about family dynamics. Gosh I wish I would have known some of these things about my family sooner. It may have been helpful growing up.

So here are the results:

Simpson Side:

Mom = ESFP - The Performer

Dad = INTJ - The Scientist

Sister (Andrea) = ISFP - The Artist

Brother In Law (Rob) = ESTJ

Caleb = ENTJ - The Executive

Brother 1 (Zac) = ISFJ - The Nurturer

Brother 2 (Matt) = ENTJ - The Executive

Saathoff Side

Mom = ESFP The Performer

Dad = ISFP - The Artist

Brother (Nick)= ?

Sister in Law (Missy) = ?

Jenny = ISFJ - The Nurturer

Sister (Lindsey) = ISFP - The Artist

Sister's Boyfriend (Kyle) = ISFJ - The Nurturer

------------------------------------

Caleb and I have always thought that our mom's were a lot alike, and now we know why we felt that way. Come to find out both of our sister's scored having the same personality type as well as my dad. Also I have the same personality type as one of Caleb's brothers and my sister's boyfriend. And Caleb and his other brother have the same personality type.

    <lj:music>Dave Matthews Band</lj:music>

So I am a home daycare provider, this means that I open up my home to children 3 days a week. I have been doing this for a couple months now and these are my thoughts.

Pros
-I get to stay at home with my own kids. Something that is very important to me. I can’t imagine at this point having them with anyone else.
-I have no commute to work.
-I am my own boss.
-I create my own schedule. I choose to work only 3 days a week so that I can be with my kids alone on the other days and so that I have the freedom to do other things away from home.
-I can have as little or as many children as ai want. I am licensed to provide care for 10 children. I now have 3 children enrolled plus my own 2. I could have up to 5 more children if I wanted to.
_ I love kids, I get to help them grow and teach them about life.
- I am home when my husband gets home. And we can have dinner at at reasonable time.

Cons
-I never get to leave my work. This is probably the biggest one. As any mother knows being a mom is a job that never stops. And many consider it alone a full time job. I agree. So in that regard, I am being a mom to my kids 168 hours a week and being a mom to other people's kids about 30 hours a week. I think I am working a lot of overtime. I have to push myself to balance things.
- I am often exhausted when the day is over, and have very little energy for my husband. (sorry honey)
-I have to find children to fill the spots I have open.
- I'm not the best business person. But that’s where Caleb has been amazing.
- I crave conversation with adults. Real people who can speak in sentences! Right now On my fullest day I have 5 children in my home under the age of 3!

My hopes
-To move to a bigger house with a large finished basement that I can have my daycare in. This would have a fully functional small kitchen and bathroom all in the lower level. That way all daycare stays in teh daycare, and I can actually leave my work when the day is over.
-I would run this more like a preschool and probably have more children and a helper.

Funny quotes. The things I find myself saying over and over again
Books are for reading not for eating."
"Use your words!"
"It is _____turn."
"What’s the nice word to use?"
"Please be gentle with the baby!"
"We do not take toys from friends"

Hah. Nice one. How does it feel to know that you're barely unique? Of all the personality types you could have had, you ended up with the most common in all of America. In a group of 100 Americans, 12.8 of them will be just like you.

I bet you feel sorry for that one person missing 20% of his body. I bet you want to help him out, don't you? Cause that's what you like to do, isn't it? Help people. You don't want to save the world. You just want to help people out.

Sound pretty good so far? Sorry, but you're just plain pathetic. You let people walk all over you all the time, because everyone knows that you just can't say "no." When you get time, email me your contact details. It’s always good to know where I can find another helping hand.

What the hell is your problem? GET A LIFE! Stop cleaning other people's houses and go out and have a bit of fun every now and then. Sure, you feel responsible for doing what needs to be done, but sometimes it's just not you who needs to do it.

You're dependable, predictable and practicaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...

Whoops, that was me falling asleep on the keyboard. You're just not the most fun person. I wouldn't worry too much about it. You can go hang out with your other 12.8 mates, helping out at the soup kitchen together. Woohoo!

*****************

If you want to learn more about your personality type in a slightly less negative way, check out this.

*****************

The other personality types are as follows...

Loner - Introverted Sensing Feeling Perceiving
Criminal - Introverted Sensing Thinking Perceiving
Borefest - Introverted Sensing Thinking Judging
Almost Perfect - Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving
Freak - Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Judging
Loser - Introverted iNtuitive Thinking Perceiving
Crackpot - Introverted iNtuitive Thinking Judging
Clown - Extraverted Sensing Feeling Perceiving
Sap - Extraverted Sensing Feeling Judging
Commander - Extraverted Sensing Thinking Perceiving
Do Gooder - Extraverted Sensing Thinking Judging
Scumbag - Extraverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving
Busybody - Extraverted iNtuitive Feeling Judging
Prick - Extraverted iNtuitive Thinking Perceiving
Dictator - Extraverted iNtuitive Thinking Judging

If you havent heard.... Annabelle Grace Simpson arrived at 3:50 pm on Tuesday August 22nd! She is a beautiful little girl and has done pretty good adjusting to life in this big world. I am recovering alright as well. We go to leave the hospital only 24 hours after the birth! We are now home and adjusting to life with 2 children. After not seeing Zeke for almost 2 days I was amazed at how BIG he was, and how much energy he had and how many words he knew. And I have to say that I am scared of the day when I have to be at home with these two all by my self. Luckily caleb has 2 weeks off of work and his family is visiting now and my parents are coming next week.

In other news...
I am getting a new stove today! Mine has been broken since we have moved here. It's hard to cook much without a functional oven. I am excited to be able to make cookies and make a pizza successfully.

Today Is caleb and my 4 year anniversary! Wow, 4 years sounds like so long. But I really cant imagine life without my hubby. Our marriage has worked so well. We are incredibly blessed.

I got a new watch but I need to get a couple links taken out

I am looking for a double stroller- and trying to decide wether to get a standard tandem or side by side jogger style

All of our windows are getting replaced in 2 weeks. Horay for not having to put up plastic this winter.

My baby slept 4 hours straight last night! Pretty impressive. A good starting point.

So today caleb and I tried to think of all the words that zeke knows. We started this task a while ago but hadn't kept up with his most recent additions so if you are curious these are the words that Ezekiel age 2 knows. Please dont be offended if your name is not on the list! I think it is rather fascinating watching a child learn to speak. It's amazing how they just absorb it.

Yeah so I guess it comes out of the desperation and anticipation of waiting for an over due baby that I write. Yeah pretty pathetic I know. So I am not too worried about this little one I'm sure she will come out sometime- but I am getting a bit restless. Yesterday when I went to the doctor they wanted to do a non stress test on the baby. And today they want to do another ultrasound on the baby. It's funny how each doctor feels differently about women carrying a baby past their due date. In Illinois the Doctor that we saw with Zeke was not concerned at all that he was late. Zeke was born 6 days late and the doctor never once mentioned doing additional tests. I really dont have a problem with having these few additional tests done- I mean I want to make sure that my baby is healthy- It's just make me start worrying more. So in addition to the ultrasound today we have an induction scheduled for next Wednesday. All this just seems rather crazy timing. I would much rather the baby come soon- like on her own sometime this week. I know we cant control it, well not really but Next week is just bad timing. Yeah I know that is sad to say about a child but Im sure someone out there understands what I mean. I guess part of it is that Caleb and My anniversary is next Thursday (the day after the induction is scheduled. Although we have permanently changed our Anniversary celebration to August to guarantee that we can get away to February. It would be a bummer to have the baby on our Anniversary. We also have friends supposed to be coming in to town on the 25th. It would be great to be able to spend time with them. And we are expecting to have all new windows installed the last week of August. Which means that we have to evacuate out home for 2 days since the old windows contain lead paint. Im sure it will be an adventure having a new baby and a 2 year old in a hotel for 2 days. And we will be having alot of family coming to visit us once this little one decides to make an apperance. All this to say I am considering asking the doctor to induce sooner than Wednesday.

Anyway enough griping-

Here are some notes about plans we have for the baby:

NAME: We are planning on naming this baby Annabelle Grace Simpson Annabelle means: Grace, beauty, and loveable.
HOSPITAL: We will be delivering ar Regions Hospital in St. Paul. If you plan to come and visit the Birth Center is near the South parking lot.
ROOM: We recently painted the kids room. It was so much fun. It has a moon , stars and sun theme.

so I have been a bit preoccupied and really I just have never gotten a hold of what exactly to post. but since some people are complaining, namely my husband, i will once again post.

so life is good. especially when we get a 3 day weekend off of work, well actualy it is a 4 day weekend for me since i never work fridays anyway.

Pregnancy
so yeah im now 10 weeks pregnant. hopefully i find a doctor soon. i am just a bit overwhelmed in the task of finding a doctor in the cities. i am not picky and i am not a paranoid pregnant woman, my last pregnancy was perfectly normal and my doctor was great, only problem was that he is in illinois. so today caleb and i will be doing some internet research on doctors and hospitals in St. Paul. I am sure that he will be able to help me figure out where exactly we should go. gosh he might even create a spreadsheet to rank the doctors by years of experience and qualifications all sorted by cost and distance from our house. i love the man- but no decision is a small one...

Home daycare
so i am going to a training and informational meeting on becoming a licensed home daycare provider later this month. it seems that it is practically impossible to get much information about this subject without going to one of these meetings. which is mostly frustrating to me. i just want to be able to get all the information i need, and get started in the process. I am also a bit concerned because i want to do home daycare only 3 days a week. i don't know how possible this is. if i can find families who only want part time care. yeah im selfish and i need my space sometimes, and i dont want to surrender over my house completely to children who are not my own. if anyone has any suggestions dish them on over....

alright that is all for now.

So you'll never guess what I did today. I successfully broke my ankle. I tripped while I was on roller blades and landed on my left ankle. So Luckily I was on break at work and caleb wasn't far away so we took a nice trip to the ER and got x-rays and the whole bit. Thy put me in a splint for now and gave me crutches. But the story is that after the swelling goes down they will be able to put me in a walking cast. Whew! So for at least the next couple days Zeke will be quicker and more mobile than I am- that's scary. Graatefully my awesome husband is going to stay home from work for a while to help me out with Zeke until I can maneuver a bit better, and get the other cast on.

So if anyone has free time and wants to come visit I will be sitting around a lot. Also if you have any good movies laying around and would like to drop them by they may get watched. I have a feeling I will get bored pretty quickly.

well just as I expected I dont use my LJ as much as I had hoped. Right now I am sitting back and drinking an iced-mocha-jenny-style here is my recipe. It's easy quick and much cheaper than going to a darn coffee shop.
Fill any glass 3/4 with any coffee (I used hazlenut today)
add ice, milk and chocolate syrup.
Stir and drink.

Yeah it is simple. Tastes pretty good too. I love coffee shops but it gets so expensive to always buy drinks. Maybe its because I love chocolate and coffee so well together that I always order the more expensive drinks.

Anyway we went camping this weekend. It was quite fun. It was zeke's first camping trip. He did really well for having to sleep in 45 degree weather at night, having his schedule totally nterrupted and being in the sun alot. On Saturday afternoon we went hiking a bit. We hiked allong the St. Croix river and got some really cool pictures. Caleb carried zeke in a backpack carrier and he took a nap almost the whole time. It was so cute him all curled up resting his head on Caleb's back.

So we have had some crazy stuff happen lately. Or car is practically unusable- and totally unsafe for driving fast. It needs about $800 worth of work on it which is a bit too much for us to invest in a car with over 200.000 miles on it. So we are now in the market for another car. Anyone know of good deals for cars, where to find cheap nice, used cars.
Funny thing is that within the same week that our car broke we found out that we are getting a sizable tax return this year. SWEET! God is funny like that. He always seems to have things worked out.

When you were a kid were you a leader or follower?
This question was inspired by a couple kids...
So there were these kids who I assume were walking home from school. They were throwing snowballs at each other and running up and down the sidewalk in front of my house. Made me laugh. I noticed that there was one kid who was the leader. He didnt get much show thrown at him, but did most of the throwing. All the kids seemed to be having a good time. Then when they got bored they setarted to throw snowballs at the cars around. The two 'followers' didnt even try it they just packed the snow into nice little balls and tossed them to the 'leader' to throw. Interesting!

Makes me wonder what makes some kids natural leader and some followers?

I know I was as a kid and am (mostly) now a follower.

<lj:music>Rusted Root- Send Me On My Way</lj:music>

What motivates you?
I have found that I, probably not unlike many people am mostly motivated by the thought of impressing other people. I often try to mask this but I figured i just as well get it out there. Most of the things I do during the day are done in hope of receiving recognition in some way. I mop the floors hoping that Caleb will walk into the house and comment on how nice it looks. Am i too caught up on what other people think of me? I think the answer to this question is yes, but what do i do about it? I am realizing more and more that I am a perfectionist but possibly for the wrong reasons. I guess I have spent most of my life wanting recognition. I feel awesome when someone notices something I have done. I need approval. Maybe this is unhealthy. I often rely on other people to bring me satisfaction.

I pretty blindly follow God atleast- on the big things it is easy for me to listen to Him. I have had very few doubts that he wants me in Minneapolis, away from my family. But when it comes to day to day living I cant seem to find him. I try to squeeze him in between diaper changes, feedings. And it doesnt always work. I probably need to live in a different mindset.

maybe i will post something a little more uplifting next time.

    <lj:music>Caleb playing Bond</lj:music>

I have recently found that getting out of the house does me good! I guess I got consumed be being a mom and forgot it was ok to get out. So I have made a decision to get out of the house at least once a week. Today I decided to take one of those ventures out and took Briana and Zeke to The Riverview Cafe. It is a great place. Not only is it filled with a nice aroma of coffee but they have a kids play room. Packed full of toys and other kid friendly things. I once heard that they did a story time there. I think I am going to contact the owners and find out if I can become a stoyteller. I love helping kids find their imaginations through a story ot play. So here's where I need your help.

What was you favorite childhood story or story time experience? What made it so special?

I was even thinking of creating for myself a story teller personality. Possibly wearing special storytelling glasses- although I don't need glasses, some funky glasses would probably help me cross over into the realm of children.

So on to a mommy problem-concern-thought. We have recently decided to wean zeke from brest feeding onto formula. And so far he hates it. I have tried mixing breast milk and formula he still wont take it. So right now my theory is that if I mix formula in with his cereal he will eventually acquire a taste for it- he still eats his cereal just fine. If anyone out there has any advice feel free to pass it on!

So z has been extra cute lately. HE has one little tooth that is popping through. It is totally crooked but that is ok it will straighten as the others come in. The lil guy even let me clean the house today while he slept and then played by himself. Good Kid! And a Happy Mom!

So after last night I remembered how much I like my husband. Good thing to remember huh. Its funny how going on a date just brought back so many of those magical feelings that are usually interrupted by life. So we have made a decision to date more often. And Im happy. I even got flowers that look very pretty on my dining room table.

Alright I think thats all for now. Hopefully I will use this thing. I think im gonna like it!

Yep so I have done it. I have jumped on the bandwagon. I know that all of you have always been wondering what goes on inside my head and well maybe now you will find out. As a preview this journal will be filled with lots of talk about kids especially funny stories about Zeke and Briana.
It will also be packed full with mis spellings and other randomness.

This leads me to my first question-
Does LJ have a spell check option!

I will post more later!

But send em a shout out all yall!

:)

ah ha!
